What is it?
Ceramic coating is like pouring liquid glass onto your clear coat, that then hardens and bonds to create a layer of protection. It also deepens the gloss of your vehicle for the life of the coating and keeps water and dirt from layering on top of it. It also offers some chemical resistance too.

The Flip Side of Ceramic Coating
Ceramic coatings get worn down by car washes. So if you love car washes, coatings aren't right for you. Car Washes take the life of coating in half. The only car washes you should use are the touchless car washes. Automatic Car washes use harsh cleaning products and abusive brushes to clean your car. Usually the brushes get packed with dirt and other pollutants that now bond with the fibers, and act as sandpaper to aggressively and quickly clean your car. Keep in mind carwashes aren't in the business of maintaining your cars beauty long term, but quickly washing your car in less than 5 minutes, at the sacrifice of your car's clear coat/paint, or in this case your ceramic coating.
•Per the manufacturer every year you have to boost the coating with the 1 year Inspiration Ceramic coating to help the integrity of the coating.
•Handwashes only! Of course you need to learn how to hand wash your car properly before you do so. Hand washes are less aggressive and if done right keep the coating clear of debris and scratches.
•Occasionally, coatings in the fall or in the winter, get clogged with contaminates from the outside environment. Salt, snow sludge, oils, minerals from polluted water, clogs the coatings and causes it not to replace water. If it happens, usually an acidic wash treats the issue.
•Coatings will not deflect rocks, or physical damage.
How much does it cost and why?
Cost depends on vehicle size, how many layers you want, how much paint correction work needs done before the application. Generally ceramic coatings run $1200 - $3000.
What can it be applied to?
Ceramic coatings can be applied to wheels, glass, plastic and painted surfaces. Even the fabric has a ceramic type of coating. There is a ceramic leather protection I have yet to try, and the verdict is still out on how long and what it actually protects.
Can you apply a coating without paint correction?
Yes! You can apply a ceramic coating without paint correction. The imperfections of the paint will show through and be permanently shown until the coating fails or the coating gets removed and then paint corrected. Keep in mind it's bad practice in our industry to not to clay bar, decontaminate, and paint correct. Usually people who just want it coated, just don't want to spend the money to get it done right.
How long does it take for the application process?
Per the manufacturer, a ceramic coating should be given 24-48 hrs before it is released out into the environment. It will take a full 2 weeks to let the coating cure. After that I invite you back for a hand wash to check the coating.
What are the different types of coating available?
There are so many different types of manufacturers of coatings. Each one has drawbacks and benefits. I use IGL product line. They have a 1 Year 5 year coating. Honestly it depends on what type of environment your vehicle exists in, will then tell you how long the coating will last.
Is it worth getting a ceramic coating for my vehicle?
A ceramic coating only can do so much. And to some people it's not worth it. To others it's a great way to preserve a vehicle's cleanliness and appearance for the long haul. If you have the mindset to keep something for a long time, and you like maintaining your things, ceramic coatings are a great tool to help you do so. If your price conscious or on a budget this will not justify the expense because usually few things are worth the investment in this person's mind.
How many layers of ceramic coating do I need?
The more layers of the coating the longer the product will product. Each product has its specified layers, mixtures, and cure times. Typically most manufacturers have a 2 layer application process. So most carry at least 2 layers.

Here are the exceptions:
If you live outside of the city limits we would schedule only 1 visit a month along with others in that area.
If the vehicle becomes "problematic" hard to schedule, hard to get a hold. The vehicle is constantly inaccessible at the time of the appointment. We reserve the right to cancel and not refund.
External forces that make it unserviceable like extreme rise in costs related to the maintenance. We reserve the right to cancel and not refund.
During the winter months we would ask that you bring the vehicle in for the schedule maintenance or you can skip that month.
As you can tell by the price it is not cheap. These services are for people who are busy but want their vehicle always looking great. They need their vehicle to look great because of the work they do. You get to own your vehicle stress free and not worry about doing the work it takes to keep your vehicle looking good for years to come!
